First Look at a Florida Beach!

After a two-day rest in Tarpon Springs, Florida, we mapped a route to Clearwater and enjoyed an easy 18 mile cruise along the intracoastal waterway, between barrier islands and the mainland. The weather was warm, the water smooth.

Navionics Route Plan

Clearwater Harbor Marina offered a seven night stay for the price of a five night stay. We said yes!

Over the next few days, we walked along Clearwater Beach, biked to the nearby Publix grocery, and checked out the town (including a new movie) in a two day rental car. We enjoyed the feeling of freedom of having our own rented wheels!

Clearwater Beach was beautiful! White sand as fine as powder, a well designed boardwalk, and plenty of seafood restaurants of all stripes.

Every day, we watch the pirate ship go by with its entertaining music.

On Sunday, we were welcomed warmly at a local Presbyterian Church.

We had a good stay in Clearwater, but by the end of our week-long stay I had “dock itch” – ready to move on to the next place!
