On December 30, 2019 we left the dock in Bradenton with our daughter Erika, navigated out of the Manatee River and turned left (South) into the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. On this 26 mile trip we saw many dolphins playing.

Our first port for two nights was Longboat Key Club Marina, offshore of Sarasota, which we had enjoyed earlier with friends Mark and Mary. On New Year’s Eve we took the marina shuttle to dinner at Speak’s Clam Bar, a seafood restaurant on St. Armand Circle, a beautiful Sarasota shopping and restaurant area only ten minutes away.

Erika is a major fan of Broadway musicals, so we then Ubered (if that is a word) to Florida Studio Theatre to see an excellent production of Bright Star, a Broadway show.

After another Uber and another shuttle ride, we returned to R&R in time to see the ball drop in Times Square. A fun New Year’s celebration with Erika while seeing some of Longboat Key and Sarasota!

Hi Rhonda and Rick! Happy New Year! Being from Asheville, I love Bright Star. Great musical, and our Ellie played Alice when her highschool did the show, so lots of good memories. Wishing you many more adventures. Cheers to a wonderful 2020!
