Cruising to Fort Myers Beach with Matt and Shirley

We are glad that Matt and Shirley joined us for a few days of cruising in Southwest Florida! On Friday, we cast off from Legacy Harbour Marina in Fort Myers for the 21 mile trip to Pink Shell Marina on Fort Myers Beach, the barrier island offshore of Fort Myers.

When we arrived at Pink Shell, the wind was around twenty miles an hour from the east, and the tide was changing. Strong winds pushing us from behind and tidal currents pushing us sideways made docking a challenge, but with two tries we got it done.

We enjoyed walking the beautiful white sand Gulf of Mexico beach at Pink Shell and then drove to Captiva Island to see the sunset at the Mucky Duck beach restaurant. After returning to the boat, we finished the evening by making great progress on a 550 piece puzzle.

A good day!

  1. Dan and I are very close to you! We are staying at the Westin in Cape Coral. We were out boating yesterday too. Winds were scary for sure…especially in our little 23’ Hurricane boat. 🤪 Have a great time!! We are heading back to Michigan tomorrow. 😢

    1. Good to hear from you, Tonya and Dan! Today we cruised from Ft. Myers Beach to Marco Island, also in heavy winds. The boat was crusted with salt by the time we arrived at MIYC. After washing off the salt, Matt and I took a dinghy ride to check out part of Marco Island near us! A good day!
