Monday we drove about 45 minutes east on Tamiami Trail into Big Cypress Nature Preserve (a National Park site) to see the wilderness and wildlife of untamed Florida.
We then visited the Clyde Butcher Gallery just down the road. Butcher is sometimes called the next Ansel Adams and is well known for his wilderness photographs of the Florida landscape. He began his career doing color photography before switching to black-and-white landscape photography after the death of his son. Here are two stunning examples of his work:

Sunday evening we met Marilyn for a tasty waterside dinner at the Island Gypsy, including an enormous slice of excellent carrot cake for take-out dessert. More than enough for five of us!

Tom really likes the photos of Clyde Butcher. An exhibit of his is coming to Bradenton so we will go see it.
I like the black and white. But I have spent some time doing black and white photos so I am a little partial to them. It has to be the right subject matter though and I think the Big Cypress shot works with B/W. My very amateur opinion.
