Yesterday we traveled about 40 miles from Everglades City to Marco Island, Florida.
Unfortunately, we left the dock with the key fob for Everglade Isle RV Resort. Fortunately, Mark devised a long-handled tool to hand the key fob to Rhonda, who drove downstream to meet us. Thanks, Mark and Rhonda!
Boating to Marco was a wonderful experience! Warm sunshine, light breeze, no waves, and wildlife along the way. We traveled slowly out the Indian Creek channel and then got up on plane until we reached the Marco River on the north side of Marco Island.
When we arrived at the Marco Island Marina, Rhonda met us at the dock to help us nestle R&R into her slip. We then celebrated Mary‘s 60th birthday with pizza on friend Marilyn‘s beautiful waterside patio at La Peninsula.
Now for the sad news…
Today, after careful consideration of the COVID virus situation, we have decided to engage in Loopus Interruptus, creating some temporary “social distance” between us and our boat. We rented a U-Haul trailer and are loading it with bicycles, food, clothing, and other supplies. We plan to drive to Indiana and Michigan starting this weekend, to ride out this storm at home, closer to family. Stay tuned for more news!
Rick, God’s speed to you on your travels and be well. We are hunkered in Lafayette rather than Naples for the same reasons. I look forward to the blogs when you resume.

We had a safe but long 1400 mile drive from Marco Island, Florida to Holland, Michigan, arriving one day before Michigan’s Governor imposed a three week “stay at home” order for all residents.
