One year ago, Rhonda and I untied lines and left the dock at Yacht Basin Marina in Holland, Michigan to begin our Great Loop voyage.

After navigating 2643 miles down the Western Rivers, along the panhandle and west coast of Florida, and across to the Florida Keys, COVID concerns led us to leave the boat in Florida and return to Michigan for “a while.” We are still there, enjoying Michigan lakes (sans boat) and happy to be safe and healthy.

And the boat is in Fort Myers, no doubt missing our attention.
Being in Michigan gave us the privilege to help our son John and his wife Katy move into their new home, and celebrate our daughter Erika’s engagement to her fiancé Matt. Happy and rewarding times for us as parents!
We do long for the sea, for the challenge and adventure of continuing our Great Loop travels. But for now we celebrate our first Loopaversary!
Congratulations to all! Sounds like 2020 has not been all bad!!
Glad to hear you are safe. You will get so much more out of your Loop by waiting until it is safer. There are so many experiences you’d miss. Looking forward to wishing you well when you return here to your boat.
