Stock Island Marina (our home for the month) has a large and well-equipped marina for sail and power boats, a good hotel, two beautiful pools, and a number of outdoor restaurants. It is only a short shuttle ride to downtown Key West.
Our first day on the dock, we met a Calvin University graduate, two Purdue graduates, a former Holland, Michigan resident, and a Looper couple we met last year traveling South on the Tombigbee River toward Mobile, Alabama. We have been warmly welcomed by our dock neighbors, most of whom are here for the month or longer.
Key West has a wonderful selection of eclectic restaurants, many with live jazz or island music.
In our first couple of days here we have already sampled stuffed hogfish and LBT (lobster, bacon and tomato) eggs benedict in recommended outdoor eateries. Tasty!
