Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island: A Lot to Like!

Fernandina Beach is the last Florida harbor town on the AICW before the Georgia line.

Morning on the Fernandina Beach docks

We stayed two nights at Fernandina Harbor Marina because I had scheduled my second COVID vaccine shot at a Publix grocery store pharmacy there. Got both shots in Florida to be under the same set of rules. (Mission accomplished! Rhonda got her one-and-done J&J shot while in Michigan recently. We feel blessed to have that measure of protection.)

We knew almost nothing about Amelia Island and were pleasantly surprised. The island includes the historic and beautifully maintained downtown of Fernandina Beach, posh Atlantic beach resorts like the Ritz-Carleton, bike trails, and many vacation rentals. It has more of a family atmosphere than some Spring Break party destinations we have seen.

We liked Amelia Island so much we may come back for a visit next winter.

  1. Thanks for your note, Tom! We did like Amelia. It has a good combination of historical buildings, seashore, resorts and homes, all of it in a casual, Family friendly setting.

Hope you and Barbara are well!
